Since the Miata got hit, I need to submit a claim for fix. I got some pdr type places saying 500. I'm sure a body shop would be much more. I want the best job, but can't cross 75% of assessed value, or salvaged. I don't know assessed value for a 2001 Miata with 170k in northern Virginia. How do I figure that out?

KBB or NADA. That what most insurance places use for something common. Otherwise find ad for similar age/mileage/condition locally if you want to argue.

Take it to carmax or mazda dealer and inquire on current trade-in and market value of the car. explain the situation to them and they may help. some dealers do not like doing this, luck of the draw . or maybe call your loca l dmv or whoever handles registration taxes on vehicles. they might be your best bet. in the end, it comes down to what insurance says it’s worth. the more places that put a value on the car, the better your chances are. but with the age, mileage, and damage they may salvage it anyway.
